Yes I agree completely – I guess it goes back to the idea that the majority of users judge their apps on face value and want to see something new, and then there&#039;s the Apple &quot;shiny&quot; factor but they definitely contradict themselves.

And iTunes is perhaps *the* prime example of Apple&#039;s hypocrisy because they labour a point about making apps look OS X native in the &quot;Extending the Interface&quot; section:

&quot;Don’t copy other platforms’ user interface elements or behaviors in Mac OS X, because they may confuse users who aren’t familiar with them.&quot;

Yet iTunes for Windows does *exactly* this, and although it&#039;s a platform reversal it completely goes against their design principles.</description>

Just witness how iTunes has changed over the years. UI consistency on the Mac (and on Windows for that matter) is a shadow of what it once was.</description>
