About

Hi, I’m Alex Rozanski.

I’m a programmer – primarily with Objective-C and Cocoa, software developer for the Mac, and blogger of both realms. I also do some graphic design and UI stuff in my spare time.

I am 16 and currently live in London. Alongside programming and all things software I play the guitar as a hobby and enjoy listening to Heavy Metal.

If you want to get in touch, then you can do so on Twitter or via the contact page.

Education

I’m currently at Queen Elizabeth’s School in Barnet, studying Maths, Physics, Computer Science and Art for my A-levels. I obtained 10 A*s and 2 As in my GCSEs last year.

I am planning to study Computer Science at university in a couple of years time.

Programming & software development

I’ve been programming for about 8 years now. It all started out with my curiosity of how web pages worked, from HTML through Javascript and some basic PHP stuff.

Then I became interested in C and read the only C book worth reading (joke, joke!) from K&R. It was also at this point that I started messing around with a bit of C++ and the Win32 API.

I now spend most of my time working with Objective-C and Cocoa, developing software for the Mac. I hope to branch out into some iPhone stuff soon, too. Like any programming language and development environment, there is controversy over Objective-C and Cocoa, but I love the language and I love the tools and enjoy working with them.

I also restrain myself from causing the group of people responsible for VB6 harm, after having to use it in CS classes at school.

Although slightly skeptical in the past, after seeing more of this .NET stuff in action I’m thinking of looking into C# perhaps with ASP.NET MVC  – although there just aren’t enough hours in the day.

“Perspx”? What’s that all about?

You’re asking me.

When I joined The Code Project a few years back and was coming up with a username, I wanted something different that would make me stand out. It was more of an impulse thing, but has kind of stuck I guess.

Learn to spell, man!

If you were wondering why I “can’t spell” certain words, such as colour and favourite, I can spell, I am just British; we’re kinda verbose like that… (sorry).

What is this?

Stack Overflow and Super User are two Q&A websites I am a member of, for programmers and computer enthusiasts respectively.

The "Flair" shown is simply my stats for both sites. Find out more here
